I am the executive editor at Harper’s Magazine, where I edit features. Pieces that I’ve edited have won, or been nominated for the National Magazine Awards for Feature Writing, Profile Writing, and Columns and Essays. I have also worked as the executive editor at the Economist’s 1843 magazine, and once upon a time earned a PhD in English literature with a focus on Romantic and Victorian poetry.

Occasionally, I do my own writing—mostly on literary history and the outdoors—and it can be found at places like Harper’s, Outside, the Oxford American, and Lapham’s Quarterly.
